Now, for Kylie and Wesley’s Special Story…

Wes and Kylie first met in April 2016 on the dance floor at Little Easy bar in Ponsonby during Kylie’s birthday celebrations. Kylie thought he was a good dancer, although maybe a tad on the feminine side.

Wes thought he was punching way above his weight, but gave it a good crack and threw out a few special dance moves. On Anzac Day they met up at the waterfront and shared a bar-hopping experience together to around 7 bars, where they discovered they shared a love of good food and wine. Together they have travelled around the South Island in a van for two weeks. Despite the constant issues with the van, they learnt to work together to overcome them and discovered another love of nature together.

They bought their first house together in month/year in Titirangi. It fits them perfect as they are surrounded by trees, nature and together with their fur babies, Zac, Zara and Kaya. Wes and Kylie, spend time together, going on walks, cooking together, enjoying wine and holidaying at the family bach in Whiritoa.

On the October 14, Wes took Kylie on a surprise weekend away. He whisked her off to Rakino Island by helicopter, once landed he got to one knee and asked her to be his wife. The helicopter then took them to Mudbrick on Waiheke where all their friends and family were waiting to celebrate their engagement with them.

“Which brings us to Tui Hills and our wedding day, 5th of February 2020,” says Kylie. “We chose this date as the day after is Waitangi Day, which means we can celebrate our anniversary large each year! We celebrated our special day with 100 of our most loved and cherished people. Special mentions would be Julie and Nate, who travelled all the way from California for our wedding which we really appreciated and our cousins Jess and Nick who came from Australia.”

Kylie said that in choosing Tui Hills for their venue it was a case of love at first sight.

“It 100% fitted with our nature-inspired wedding. The native trees and bush surrounding the venue is so, so beautiful and we LOVED the modern, lush design of the nectar room as well. We also loved how we had options if it was a rainy day and how everything was at the same location!

“The food was delectable and our guests wouldn’t stop raving about the menu! The staff were uber helpful and made the whole experience stress free and enjoyable. Couldn’t recommend more highly!”

Kylie and Wesley were chosen by the publishers of New Zealand Weddings and Tui Hills CEO Ruth Carpenter. She said the couple epitomised the spirit of the venue, which strived to deliver a wonderful experience without the stress. “We’ve had a lot of great couples marry here, none more so than Kylie and Wesley. You could see the pure joy on their faces throughout the day and their photographs reflect that.”
