Ever thought of having a silent disco at your wedding?
You might have encountered a silent disco at uni or a festival, but if you haven’t, it’s essentially a headphone disco, sometimes with two or three channels playing different tunes. Revellers can swap frequencies and dance along to whatever song they prefer – and bar some muffled singing along, the music is silent for anyone who’s not wearing headphones. Not only is a silent disco fun and novel, but it has some practical benefits too.
Here are five reasons to go ahead:
1. It’s fun. It’s hard to put your finger on exactly why it’s such a crowd-pleaser, but the novelty seems to be a big part of it. Guests love being part of a new experience that they’re all in together.
2. You can cater to a variety of musical tastes. Depending on how the system’s set up, you can have just one music selection, or a two or three playing at the same time to cater to different musical tastes.
3. It’s guest-friendly. If you’ve got elderly guests or sleeping babies, a silent disco is a clever option to allow guests to chat (or snooze!) away without shouting over the music.
4. You can turn the volume right up. Many venues have noise restrictions due to neighbours. At a silent disco, ironically you can have the music as loud as you want.
