Wine List Goes Premium
Special Selection If You Want The Best
If house wines aren’t quite what you want on your day of days, we’ve just created an additional premium wine list, with everything from Amisfield Central Otago Pinot Noir to Dicey Bannockburn Pinot Gris, Trademark Hawkes Bay Chardonnay and Veuve Clicquot champagne.
Venue Manager Virginia Carrick-Eede has created the list over the past month, based on quality and value-for-money. “Although we have some expensive wines, there are also a number in the $50 range,” she says. “The aim is to give people a great wine experience to go with the incredible food coming out of the kitchen. And what says ‘wedding’ more than French champagne – there are now five to choose from.”
Beyond the champagne, the list of 18 wines is exclusively from New Zealand, with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rose and a selection of reds.
To include some of these premium wines in your package there is a minimum order of one case (6 bottles). The total value of the wine selected is invoiced before the wedding. Any unopened bottles are available for pick-up 5 working days after the wedding so that nothing goes to waste.
Here are four of our top choices for your wedding:
Veuve Clicquot
Yellow Label
$134 per bottle
Yellow Label is the signature of Veuve Clicquot’s quality and style, recreated every year thanks to their priceless collection of reserve wines. Its brilliant yellow label reflects the champagne’s bright personality and impeccable winemaking credentials. With robust acidity and a streak of minerality, this offers subtle notes of white peach and anise ending on a smoky note.
Trademark
Chardonnay
$125 per bottle
Planted on a 25-year-old vineyard in Havelock North at the base of Te Mata Peak and grown carefully to extend hang time and allow for a slow ripening before harvesting by hand and placing into French oak barriques. Struck stone and flint on the nose with lemon curd, stone-fruit and a biscuit layered lees influence. The palate is supple and seamless with a persistent lingering finish.
Mahi
Rose
$53 per bottle
Mahi, meaning ‘our work, our craft’, began in 2001. Now focusing on single-vineyard wines backed up by a series of premium regional wines from Marlborough, the idea behind Mahi is to respect and promote the individuality of the various vineyards. Beautiful vibrate aromas followed by zesty citrus, floral notes, and a dry finish.
Man O’ War
Ironclad Bordeaux
$99 per bottle
From the breathtaking Waiheke Island the Ironclad is predominantly Cabernet Franc blended with Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemakers have carefully selected the best fruit from the vintage through hand harvesting. The wine has layers of flavour from blackberry, cassis, exotic spice and rich but fine tannins.
