Style in the Heart of Nature
Nestled in the bush-covered Waitakere Ranges, Tui Hills offers a native garden setting like no other. This is a proudly New Zealand venue, from the Tuis in the trees to the food, wine and hospitality – all just 30 minutes drive from central Auckland.
Catering for up to 120 guests, there are three ceremony areas as well as outdoor and indoor options for the reception. The whole venue is exclusively yours for the day, and dancing can go all the way to midnight.
Whether you have a strong idea of the styling for your wedding, or need us to give you some inspiration, Tui Hills’ fresh, natural appearance lends itself to whatever look you want. Floral styling – as illustrated above – includes Boho Glam, Classic Elegance, Pop Art, Wild and Trailing, Vintage Rustic and Green Organic. Or you can create a totally personal look.
Venue hire includes staff, crockery, cutlery, glassware and linen. Props are available for hire, including extra plants, a green wall, arch, lamps, candles and a selection of neon signs.
Dining at Tui Hills showcases the best of fresh local ingredients, with a contemporary New Zealand style and plenty of choices – all created by the dedicated team from Free Range Chef, lead by the Chef himself Stephen Weeks.
Enjoy a three-course meal starting with a selection of canapes, then shared plates of your choice such as slow-cooked lamb shoulder, Asian oranged-spice pork or roasted free-range chicken and much more, finished off with dessert. Or sit down to a gourmet BBQ meal in one of two styles. Tapas-style dishes can be enjoyed at the table in a formal setting, or as walk-and-fork dishes allowing you to mix and mingle. You can also choose from a range of grazing tables, both savoury and sweet, so guests can snack into the evening. And, you can enjoy an incredible cake baked by Jackie King of Ponsonby’s Cake & Co.
The drinks list at Tui Hills is headed by two of the world’s great champagnes, Veuve Clicquot and Moet & Chandon.
The Nectar Room bar also offers a wide range of Soho and local Westbrook wines, plus draught lager on tap, craft beer from Cassels & Sons and a full range of spirits. That includes Lavender-infused gin from Riverhead’s Lavender Hill.
The Classic Wedding
This is going to be the biggest day of your life, and you want to be across all the details – seating, catering, guest lists, table centrepieces, the music and more.
Tui Hills is the perfect backdrop for an event that you and/or your wedding planner will choreograph to be a unique experience.
Use of Tui Hills’ caterer and bar is part of the package. The menu can be chosen from ones already prepared for the venue, or you can work with Chef Stephen Weeks to create your own.
You decide on all other suppliers, whether they’re recommended by us or come from further afield, including family and friends.
The Concierge Wedding
We organise the tables, seating and tableware. Our florist looks after the venue flowers according to the style you select. That leaves you to choose the menu from Free Range Chef and select and organise the rest of the suppliers.
The Concierge Plus
Planning your wedding can take just a few days with the Concierge Plus package. We do most of the organising while you choose the celebrant, photographer, cake, music and bridal flowers from lists of recommended suppliers. Best of all, you have minimal stress and can concentrate on looking forward to your big day.
Our Promise: No Hidden Costs
When booking a venue you need to know what you’re getting for your money.
That means no hidden charges for things you’d expect to be included.
At Tui Hills we create a detailed proposal listing all the options, with pictures.
You’ll walk away from Tui Hills with an estimated price within your spending range and a full understanding of what that includes.
On August 19, 2013 the Marriage Amendment Act made it possible for New Zealanders to marry regardless of sexual orientation. It’s a date to be celebrated.
We look forward to seeing many same-sex couples marrying at Tui Hills in the coming years.

“You’ve changed all the things that needed to be changed, and kept all the things that were worth keeping.” That was the reaction of a groom who visited Tui Hills for the first time after attending several weddings at the location years before.
For the best part of two decades, the site of Tui Hills was a well-loved venue where thousands of couples married. In 2018, management problems lead to the old Cassels going into liquidation, and for several months the building and grounds lay unused. But in February 2019 the property was bought by Aucklanders Ruth Carpenter and Kevin Townsend who had already started the luxury pop-up wedding business, Simply Wed.
In the months that followed the grounds were replanted, walls were painted, outdoor paths concreted with exposed aggregate, and bar facilities and other areas were modernised while keeping the property’s considerable charm. European styling gave way to a fresh look celebrating the location and the New Zealand style. New caterers, with a reputation for flair, came on board, plus top celebrants, photographers and more. Today it is delivering luxury weddings at an affordable range of prices.
