It’s all About You
How to De-stress Your Wedding
On your wedding day you want to arrive happy and rested, ready for the time of your life. You can make that a reality by making it your aim. Here are three rules to plan your wedding by with that in mind:
1. Focus on enjoying the day – That means disregarding any mishaps along the way. Be determined to enjoy your day no matter what. We’ve seen plenty of proof that attitude works. If the couple arrive at the venue with smiles on their faces and aren’t focused on having a perfect day with not a thing out of place, they invariably leave even happier. If you set unattainable standards of perfection everything has to meet you’ll be constantly disappointed.
2. Don’t waste your time – There are many unimportant things you could spend your time on, particularly details such as guest favours and decoration – often at the last minute. When it’s all over you’ll realise none of those little things was important. Try to concentrate your efforts on the 6 big ticket items that really make a difference: the venue, food, flowers, your celebrant, photographer and music.
3. Get trusted help – The more help you get, the easier it will be. Employ a wedding planner or get help from your venue – and not just on the day or week of the wedding. Make sure you have assistance from the time your venue’s booked. One of the most time-consuming aspects of wedding planning is finding the photographer, celebrant and other vendors you want. Without inside knowledge, that’s a huge, nervewracking task. That’s why when we assist with planning we point you towards trusted professionals. The big mistake is to get wrapped up in the small stuff which can ruin your big day, if you let it.
Delegate, Delegate, Delegate
You've heard the old saying : "it takes a village". It was never more true than with organising a wedding.
So you don't get consumed by all the work, learn early how to delegate, and don't be shy about it. Your nearest and dearest will want to help.
De-stress With Fake Deadlines
When organising a wedding, time is rarely your friend. The biggest danger is that close to the date of the wedding you'll suddenly realise you have a million decisions to make, and things to organise, but time is fast running out. Use fake deadlines so you don't have to go to panic stations.
